Ermine Power Station Expansion
Background:
Graham and Black & Veatch are assisting SaskPower in adding a simple cycle natural gas turbine to the Ermine Power Station. This will be the facility’s third turbine and will produce an additional 46 megawatts of power — enough to power 46,000 homes.
We expect the unit will be in-service in May 2025.

Challenges:
The project team was challenged with providing a heated, weathertight environment, in which they could prepare and pour large areas of slab while meeting schedule and providing a quality product to their client.
Solution and Products Ordered:
Njordair Fast Tents provided Graham and Black & Veatch with a quick and efficient alternative to conventional scaffold style hoardings. They were able to cycle their concrete pours in a fraction of the time that it would have taken to dismantle and rebuild conventional hoardings.
They ordered 12 of our 14m wide Fast Tents.
Results:
- The air gap between inner and outer layer provided a layer of insulation, reducing the amount of energy required for heating.
- They were able to pour slabs up to 10 m wide and 50 m long by joining 12 tents together with room left over for equipment and material storage.
